A letter home uses oil-based printing techniques of etching and linocut to explore the transfer, physical movement & replication of beadwork patterns. Emulating the shape of an envelope, this work is meant to move physically, with it's precious interior revealed only to the lucky recipients. This piece investigates the autonomy of the movement of our beadwork and patterns, in an age where social media allows widespread sharing of historic patterns, often leading to the spread of misinformation and misuse of beadwork patterns by those who they do not belong to. My hope is to continue this exploration of function, communication and physical movement.
